Bishop Sean,

I'm always so surprised when Peter Maurin gets short shrift in any mention of the CW movement-- he was DD's left ventricle.. the wind beneath her wings! His agricultural and hospitality plan "to make it easier for men to be good" was such a holy Catholic endeavor, and his voluntary poverty and humility (he was a secular Franciscan, I think) so real, it's hard to see her cause go forward without his, somehow.

At any rate, please know that many on the outskirts of Boston or so are praying for the Archdiocese. God love you, and may our prayers help sustain you in everything.

Dear Cardinal Sean,

If all the relegious items are collected and cataloged from each church that closes, where are the item kept. How would a church be able to receive any item free? My church is trying to locate an outdoor statue of the Blessed Mother. Our statue of Mary is in great disprepai and will cost a lot of money to refurbush. The Catholic Daughters donated this statue many years ago so we feel it is up to us to repair it. Are there any large statues of the Blessed Mother available. We have a donor who is willing to move the statue if one is available

Your Eminence
Cardinal Sean

I am so pleased to hear the blog is reaching "the ends of the earth" as Jesus told the disciples in Acts1:8 I let my family in the Buffalo area know of your blog and some people jokingly refer to that area with all the snow (they have already received 2 feet - just
last month) as the ends of the earth!!

You are a true disciple of Christ and living his word. Thank you.

The cemetery photos were stunning in their peacefulness and meditative qualities. I like your idea of ending with a picture - reminds me of the phrase - "A picture is worth a thousand words"

God bless you and your tireless efforts and endeavors to keep us close to the church and Christ

Sincerely
Elaine - Brookline

Bula Cardinal Sean---

I have followed your diaries closely and am impressed with the many things that the church in America does.

We also have our challenges in this part of the world - but one thing links us all - the everyday readings at mass and the eucharist - I felt I was present at the White Mass on - when reading your homily - we shared the same story the Monday before at our verandah - echoing the same thoughts - Bartimeaus thru his blindness - and we are blinded by what we see.

I also enjoy the many beautiful shots on your blog.

Many thanks for the great work you do.

Your Eminence!

Thank you so much for doing this blog. It offers wonderful insight into the thinking of peope in the top of the hierarchy, and gives me hope that they can be responsive to the needs of the hoi polloi, so to speak.

One little item-I believe I spotted a tiny typo in the reprint of your homily-I believe you probably meant to write that "it was NOT popular" to be a pacifist in in the Second World War. Unless you were being very subtle and ironic, but I don't think so.

It's not every day that a layman gets to correct a Prince of the Church of course, but in this case I'm sure it was just a typo that escaped your attention.

Hello, Cardinal Sean!

I just want to let you know how wonderful it is to find a blog like yours. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts about our Faith. It is truly inspiring, especially coming from someone of your position in the Church. I'll make sure to keep you and your ministry in my prayers. I hope you could include my country in your prayers as well. I'm from the Philippines and, despite the predominance of the Catholic Faith in our country, it is becoming increasingly difficult, especially for young people like myself, to remain true to it.

God bless you!

With the recent celebration of the Feast of St Francis, my friend's son asked me if animals go to heaven. I believe they do but he told me that his teacher at a Catholic school told him they don't. I think she's wrong and that all souls have an ooportunity to go to heaven. Peace

Cardinal Sean,

Thank you so much once again for your wonderful insights. Your ability to bring the Gospel message into today's reality is truly a gift, and it is something that we need to hear more than ever. It is only through faith that we may look at the condition of today's world, the brokenness, and yet still proclaim with our brother Paul, "I will rather boast most gladly of my weaknesses, in order that the power of Christ may dwell with me." (2 Cor 12:9) Yes, we are weak, and we are broken, but it is in the brokenness of this world that we find hope of the resurrection, a victory which is already won, but simply awaiting the people of faith to claim it.

Your pictures are beautiful, thank you so much for sharing them, and for sharing all of your many gifts with those of us who truly need them. May God continue to bless you in your ministry, and through your work may He bless us all. Peace!

Cardinal Sean-

Any idea when you are going to be going back to a Steubenville Conference? How about a Catholic Bloggers Conference with you as the main speaker? Father Richard Neuhaus as well?

Here's a copy of an e-mail I received from Fr. Mike's office at Stubie you may be interested in (I deleted the names of course):

Great brainstorming!

The two communication arts profs who last year hosted a Christian Media Conference think it might be an every-other-year type of event. I was surprised blogging wasn't included last year... also will forward to ********, English dept. who hosted a Catholic writers conference 2 and 1/2 years ago and it nearly killed him, he promised to do it again.

That event brought together Catholic newspaper writers, columnists, fiction writers and is a good fit for a blog focus, which has mushroomed since he held that event.

With you speaking, Cardinal Sean, the venue would probably have to be moved to Three Rivers Stadium !!!!!

With you speaking, Cardinal Sean, the venue would probably have to be moved to Three Rivers Stadium !!!!!

I've enjoyed reading your blog & seeing all the pictures.

In keeping with the rememberance during November of those who have passed away, I was wondering if you could answer a question for me. Why is it that the prayers of souls in purgatory are not meritous and thus, they rely on our prayers? I know that the souls in purgatory are unable to perform good works anymore, but why is that? Thank you very much.

Dear Cardinal,
You find R.C. and the R.C. church all over the world. I would not be too wrong to say that most of the R.C. churches are big and beautiful with designs typical of a R.C. church. Western R.C. priests or R.C. nuns who have their own profession are highly regarded because of the quality of work which they produce. There is this good feeling when you acknowledge your visitors from all the corners of the world. By the way, are my eyes playing trick ? I thought that I have seen my comments posted only to find them missing later and then back again. But I can understand because of the heavy traffic of posters trying to get in and post their comments here. Have a good day.

Dear Cardinal, I cant begin t tell you how I wait for each Friday to read your newest blog. You are such an articulate writer and so interesting. I am a 73 young widow and a communicant of Holy Cross Church in So. Easton, Ma. I also enjoy volunteering at my Church and recently helped Fr. Brad Beaupr'e with making over 800 meatballs for our annual spaghetti & meatball Halloween dinner. I might add it was an enormous success. We have one of the most family oriented churches in the area. This in thanks to both Fr. Brad & Fr. Ken who put many hours into planning events along with some wonderful volunteers. I only pray that many other Catholic Churches would follow suit and bring back the love and pride one can feel in one's Church. With the help of God, I remain, Sincerely, Shirley St.John

the photographs of the "cemeteries" were so appropriate for this month of "particular remembrance of the departed" . . . by their very nature cemeteries are places of quiet . . of solitude . . of respectful reverence . . . and of meditaion . . . of prayer -- a visit to any cemetery not only leads us to become aware of the "cloud of witnesses" . . of the saints and souls who have walked this earth and passed this way before us and then passed on into God's eternity, but we inescapably "see" our own personal future too . . both in nature and "in faith" . . .

Thank you for sharing your homily from the White Mass, your Eminence. We are indeed fortunate here in America that liberal modernity and secularism has not had the anti-religious or anti-clerical force it has always had in Europe - and thus we still have, thank God, the "villages" that are our churches.

Nevertheless, thank you for reminding us that we have a long way to go in strengthening the family and what the world calls "traditional" marriage.

God bless, thanks for blogging!
