I love to keep in touch with Sean Cardinal O'Malley from far away (in Kinshasa) by reading this blog. But, please, could you find a font or combination of background and text color that is easier to read? I'm sure others have trouble. This is ok for a page or two but I want to read the whole text! Thank you and best wishes to all

Your Eminence,

Last weekend a few friends and I were priviliged to attend the Marian Conference in Lowell and came away from it filled with joy and a renewed sense of good things happening in our church.

Needless to say, Father Copari mesmerized us all with his preaching as usual but we were also captivated by Father Jason Worthley, the young priest who celebrated Mass. If he is an example of the caliber of men who are being ordained these days, we have reason to rejoice and look forward to the future.

Thank you for this blog, Cardinal Sean, and may God bless you and all your efforts.

Yours in Christ,
Midge

PAX!

Your jail ministry makes me think that a prayer written by Saint Cyprian of Carthage, Bishop, Martyr and doctor would be appropriate for prisoners, correction officers and your other associated ministries.

Most gracious Father, bless with your special care all penitentiaries and homes of refuge. Look with pity on those who are housed there. Guide and protect those who have returned to the world. Grant all of them true contrition for past sins, and strengthen them in their good resolutions. Lead them along from grace to grace so that by the help of the Holy Spirit they may persevere in the ways of obedience and humility, and in the struggle against evil thoughts and desires. Grant the Holy Spirit to those engaged in teaching and training them, that they might have a right judgment with respect to those entrusted to them. May they labor for love of you with deep humility and singleness of purpose, purity of heart and life, and true zeal for your glory and the salvation of souls. Give them faith and love to sustain them in disappointment, love and patience toward those under them, and in your own good time crown their work with an eternal recompense. Amen.

Your jail ministry, or ministry with the guys involved with street violence, is incredible. You are the man for it, because you have such a calming effect- your presence, vocation, and being radiate the peace of Jesus.
Eminence: as someone who has worked "bingo" for many years, I know that there are as many compulsive "bingo addicts" as there are compulsive casino gamblers. Are you prepared to ban bingo in the Boston area? Also as far as ruined neighborhoods are concerned, have you walked around some of the neighborhoods in the cities that have had church closures? The absence of the Church in these neighborhoods has hurt more than any hotel/casino would.
