Dear Cardinal Sean,
My housekeepers, who are from Portugal, came to me very excited about seeing you on a Portugeuse TV channel at the Fatima celebration last week. As a matter of fact, one of the ladies' name is Fatima. She was in Portugal recently and was disappointed that she could not be there at that time. Bill and I enjoy you blog. Hope to see you at Christmas or Thanksgiving during one of the family gatherings.

God bless you.

Your Emminence--was the golden chasuble that you wore while celebrating Mass at the Shrine of Fatima the same one worn by Pope John Paul II when he visited Fatima? It looks strikingly similar. Thanks for the blog---I look forward to it every week. Dio benedica e protegga. Bill

Dear Cardinal O'Malley,

Your blog was pointed out to me by a dear Catholic friend because of the reference you made to your visit with Dr. Clayton Christensen of the Mormon Church. As a practicing Mormon myself, I was deeply touched not only by the exchange, but by your kind words in reporting the meeting. I have long appreciated the warm reception I have always had from Catholic friends in the Salt Lake City area, and I think our two churches enjoy a fraternity and an association that is mutually supportive. It is so refreshing to see different clergy looking for the things we share in common than to always point to what it is that divides us. Thanks so much! I'll be visiting your blog regularly.

Can we dispense with success stories of 'vibrant' parishes from the past? The Cure d'Ars, the patron saint of parish priests, was considered too stupid to give sermons. His 'effectiveness' was in his humility, prayer and deep love of the sacrament of penance. His holiness and supernatural powers led 20,000 pilgrims to Ars every year to confess to him.
St John Vianney pray for our beleaguered priests!

ALWAYS LOVED ST JOHN VIANNEY. WE RUN TO ALL THESE SHRINES, ETC. AND JESUS IS RIGHT THERE IN THE TABERNACLE. THERE IS NO NEED FOR MANY WORDS FOR US TO PRAY PROPERLY.BY FAITH WE BELIEVE THAT THERE IN THE TABERNACLE THE LORD IS PRESENT.
WE OPEN OUR HEARTS TO HIM. WE ARE HAPPY THAT HE LET US IN TO HIS PRESENCE. AND JOHN VIANNEY ALWAYS GENUFLECTED WHEN HE PASSED THE FRONT OF THE TABERNACLE. GOOD EXAMPLE FOR US.
