I agree with the comment made by jm on Sept. 1, that the photo of the week, the tablernacle at St. Theresa's is "Befitting a king." Thank you! It's a great photo of the week. I've never seen anything like it!

At the same time, I have to agree with his other statement, that there is not even a simple tablernacle evident in the photos of the parish of Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha.

I find this disturbing, to say the least. And what is more disturbing than the actual photos, is the fact that you did not mention a word about the apparent absence of the tablernacle during this "beautiful" ceremony, yet went on to post the photo of the week. It just doesn't make sense to me.

Many thanks for your efforts with this blog.
Yours in prayer-

Dear Cardinal O'Malley,
It has been 17 years since you graced us with your presence at our wedding in Alexandria, VA. of which we have very fond memories. I recently came across your blog and was most pleased to catch up with you. Please be assured of prayers from the Peffley and Meehan families. I'll send a family picture in the near future.
Dear Cardinal O'Malley:

With great sadness my family left your Archdiocese nearly a year ago after fifteen years in order to find a diocese where the priests are not afraid of, impliciitly forbidden from, or hostile to saying the mass (the ordinary form) in Latin, ad orientem, with chanted propers, and where the people are allowed to sing the ordinary chants of the Kyriale.

I greatly miss the friends I made in Massachusetss, but feel that it is more important for my family to regularly experience a Novus Ordo Mass that is beatifully and reverentially offered in the universal language of the Church.

Will there ever be a time when I and my family can "come home" to find parishes offering at least one such mass on Sundays and solemnities?

Thank you.

What a beautiful tabernacle at St Theresa's in West Roxbury. Befitting a king!

"A day will come when the civilized world will deny it's God.......she will be tempted to believe that man has become God......Christians will search in vain for the red lamp where God awaits them. Like Mary Magdalene weeping before the empty tomb, they will ask "Where have they taken Him?"
                                                                   - Pope Pius XII

The photos of the new 'Blessed' Kakateri's in Plymouth show no tabernacle where one should expect to see it (front and center), no red lamp in sight and.....no kneelers. This says alot!

Cardinal Sean--Mazel Tov to you for your work with the ADL and the very special recognition which you led for your friend Rabbi Leon.

You have always worked to fill the gap between the Jewish and Christian communities and I well remember how you diligently did so shortly after you arrived in Fall River.

My own dual background has often caused me to realize that much more has needed to be done here and you sure have always done your full share.

Finally two short personal observations--Fr. Jack Schatzel was a classmate of mine at Holy Cross and you and Sheila have a common denominator on the Feast of the beheading of St John the Baptist--your 37th ordination anniversary was also her "no numbers please" birthday.

Your Blog is wonderful in both a spiritual and most practical way!--Joe
