I am a Catholic convert/Leukemia survivor/songwriter-singer-musician who lives in Salem, OR. I have never heard of the Arise program until someone in the Catholic Answers Live forums mentioned it. How is it possible to get one started locally?

I enjoyed very much the words of the newly ordained Fr. Mazzone and the Sacred Heart parish in Weymouth has recovered so well after that fire of a few years ago. I just attended a funeral there for one of the parishioners from Braintree.

Dear Father Dooher, The Arise program sounds inspiring and enriching, but as is so often the case, we out here on the Northern fringes of the Archdiocese are left out. As the Archdiocese is exceptionally organized when it comes to collecting funds, it is curious as to how that splendid organization falls short with spiritual and social programs in what can only be called “orphan” parishes.

Thank you so much for writing about the ‘Arise Together In Christ’ Program. I am a member of the Arise Team at St. Mary’s in Chelmsford, and we are working hard to sign up leaders and hosts, and we’ve been very successful!

I think this is a great program to bring to the Archdiocese. Your description of the Caravaggio painting, “The Call of Matthew” brings such vivid images to my mind; an excellent vision which captures the essence of what the ‘Arise Together In Christ’ program is all about.
