Dear Cardinal Sean:

What a wonderful way to stay in touch with people around the world! I have met many Capuchins over the years and have been very impressed by your beautiful charism of caring for God's People in such a Christ-like manner. I was also at WYD '08 but had to leave before the closing Mass because I needed to return to my duty station in Korea. I was at the opening Mass and it was wonderful. Your photos of WYD'08 and the photos of Papua New Guinea are very good and inspiritational. I met the people of New Guinea for the first time during WDY '08. God bless you and your ministry in Boston!
Fraternally,
Fr. Jim O'Neal
US Army Chaplain
p.s. Thank you for the photos of the Tomb of Bl John XXIII; I had not seen his new resting place.

Your Eminence,
I like to read your Blog entries AMAP (as many times as possible) because I always find something new. This time I realized that the Franciscans are eager to build the Church of God wherever they are. An example of it is the Papua New Guinea mission.
Yours is an example of total dedication to the Church.

I was happy to know you had visited Papua New Guinea. I worked 9 years in the Diocese of Daru-Kiunga, Western Province and got to know Bishop Reichert, both as a priest and as a bishop. I left a big part of my heart in PNG when i returned in 2004. When I was there, I felt like I was part of post-Pentecost church, so alive, so vibrant, so real!! Thank you for the photos! They helped me relive very pleasant memories.

The photos of the young so involved in the Church, is very edifying.

5 years in this archdiocese? And what has truly been accomplished other than downsizing? And when will this stop?

We were better off 5 years ago. There has always been some sort of secrecy of past wrong doings by the clergy prior to 5 years ago. Now, with the current head of the Boston Arch-Liocese, not a typo, we experience additional heartbreak.

Thank you for the moving insight into the life of, and work in, the diocese of Mendi. May Our Lady, Mother of the Divine Shepherd, continue to pray for your brothers and for those they serve.
