Dear Cardinal Sean,

I attended the Proud 2 B Catholic event a week ago and I just wanted to sincerely thank you for bringing such a wonderful event to Massachusetts. As a young Catholic who is trying to live my faith the best that I can, I think it is so important that opportunities are created for teens and young adults especially to meet and befriend one another. In a time when it can be difficult to live as a faithful Christian, events such these are a much needed spiritual lift.

In addition to this, it would be wonderful if more opportunities were created by the Archdiocese for young adult Catholics (in their 20's) to meet. There aren't that many young adult groups once you leave college, and I don't think anyone enjoys meeting people at a bar (currently one of the only practical options for dating in Boston).

That being said, thank you again for bringing in the Proud 2 B Catholic Event. It is much appreciated and definitely a step in the right direction.

God Bless,

Maria

Dear Cardinal Sean, O.F.M. Cap.

First, may I introduce myself. I am a priest of the Archdiocese of Southwark in South London, England. As you may know there are two Metropolitan Archdioceses in the City of London: one north of the River Thames with Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor as Archbishop, and one south of the River Thames, Southwark with Archbishop Kevin McDonald as Archbishop. The City of London is divided in two by the River Thames and glories in two Archdioceses.

I have just celebrated the 40th anniversary of my ordination to the Priesthood and just returned from a trip to Ireland where I visited my relatives and friends. One of my significant ports of call was the Capuhcin Friary in Kilkenny. As a young boy I lived in Kilkenny and have always enjoyed a special relationship with the Capuchins. I have many life-long friends who are Caps. Indeed, in the past 40 years since ordination - whenever I have visited Kilkenny - I have always celebrated Mass at the Friary [rather than any of the 4 Parishes in the City!] - and this last visit was no exception! The Friars gave me a special Jubilee Lunch. I notice that you have always had a great love for your Religious Community and read with interest the thoughts you presented to the General Chapter of your Order concering the living out of the consecrated life as committed sons of St Francis in the Capuchin Community.

Secondly, I have been a subscriber to your blog for some months now and always enjoy reading your entries. You never cease to amaze me at the number of engagements you fit in to a week - so varied and so interesting - and then find time to present such an interesting weekly write-up of the events. You certainly give me food for thought and inspiration in my ministry.

This is just to say how much I appreciate your 'blog' and to assure you of my prayers as you carry out your special responsibility to the Holy Father as a Cardinal - and your special ministry to the Church in Boston.

As they say in ireland: "God bless the work!"

With every good wish
I remain,
Yours respectfully in Christ and St francis,

Jim Hurley

Dear Cardinal Sean,

I cannot thank you enough for coming to the Supreme Convention. For Knights like me who live in parishes where the Knights are welcomed with less than open arms, the convention was an enriching, affirming, and very moving experience. It would not have been as much so without your and other dignitaries presence. The energy and fraternity at the convention will keep me going for the next year.

God Bless

Dear Cardinal Sean,
Peace and blessings!
It was wonderful meeting you at World Youth Day at St. Fiacre's for the catechesis and to be able to concelebrate Mass with you. Didn't mention it to you when I saw you but have been following your blog since the beginning. I did one on my experiences at WYD for our parishioners here in Tampa. It is on our parish web site. I loved the picture of you and Sean O'Malley - priceless.
Your name comes up often in my ministry at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. We often have patients from Boston as well as Palm Beach. They recognize me in my habit as soon as I enter the room and ask if I know you. Now I can say I met you. Actually I sat next to you at the reception for Fr. Ronnie in Wilmington when he was ordained by you.
Thanks again for your presence and the example you are to so many of us. God bless you.
Fraternally,
Martin Schratz

Your Eminence!

Thank you so much for your blog. I read it every week, it is VERY good! I couldnt help but smile when I read that you had dinner with Bishop Cisneros while in Canada. Bishop Cisneros was my rectror at Douglaston for a year before he was named auxiliary bishop. I dont know if you remember, but I was one of the seminarians with Bishop Cisneros when he celebrated Mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral the day after his ordination with all the cuban priests.
You are a great inspiration and a great role model not only for seminarians, but for all young people. Your gentleness and your humility bring out Christ in you. Thank you for that. Please keep Brooklyn, and the Seminarians at Douglaston in your prayers!

Many Thanks!
