I was one of Bishop Bevard's friends from Philadelphia at his installation. He was a wonderful pastor at St. A's and I'm sure the people of St. Thomas are finding out what a great leader he is. Thank you for posting this blog. I wish I had found it sooner!

Dear Eminence:

Thank you for the beautiful and inspirational tour of the VI. I first saw you at Bp. Keith Symonds installation as Bishop of Palm Beach; you were talking with my bishop, Bp. John J. Snyder of St. Augustine, Fla. You were the Bishop of the VI at the time. After you left the VI, I had the pleasure of meeting Bp. Elliott Thomas both in St. Augustine and St. Petersburg. His first name is my middle name; we laughed about that. The next time that I saw you was recently at Reagan Natioal Airport; you were on your way back to Boston via New York. I had just arrived from Boston on my way to Jacksonville on leave from the Army. We talked about the parish which you gave to the Syro-Malabar Catholics and thus saved from closure; the article in the Globe was a good one. You were Bishop of Palm Beach for a little while; West Palm Beach is my hometown. I also have many Nova Scotian relatives living in the Boston area. They are very supportive of you and the church. God bless you in your ministry there. We are getting engaged with WHY CATHOLIC? through RENEW here as you are with ARISE there. Oremus pro invicem!

Dear Cardinal Sean,

Thanks to my friend Father Georges Desjardins who advised me of your blog.
It was great for me to see all the pictures because I am a winter resident of St. Thomas. It was really inspirational to see all the bishops in attendance.
God Bless you in all the fine work you accomplish.

Thank you for the great pictures and the accompanying history of the Virgin Islands.

In the early 1990's I was invited by then Fr. Eliot Thomas, diocesan administrator, to consider a chancery position. I visited St. Thomas and spent a week with Fr. Eliot. Although I ended up at Epiphany Cathedral in Venice, Florida, I treasured my short visit to the island, and your photographs of the Cathedral, the old Chancery, and the island itself bring back extremely fond and vivid memories. At that time K-Mart had just opened a new store on the island, and for the islanders it was best thing since sliced bread! I also visited the Bishop's residence and remember that spectacular view that you documented so well. Thank you for sharing your recent visit with all of us and for evoking personal remembrances that I shall never forget.

I agree - the pictures make the website, your Eminence. Thank you for taking our Fr. Jonathan on so many whirlwind adventures. We see him now and then in some snapshots. You are blessed indeed with so holy a companion priest.
Good to see our dear Bishop Thomas; he confirmed our Julie back in 2000 (or 2001?) here in Marlborough.
Thanks for all the effort you put into communicating with us. It IS appreciated. Bless you!

Dear Cardinal Sean:

Thanks for your journey back to the VI. It was wondeful; I learned things I did not know. I was ordained by Bishop Harper when he visited the Diocese of Rochester on a mission appeal. I also met and visited you while you were bishop there when my ship, the USS Fairfax County made a port visit a nmber of years ago. I would not think you remember me. You were a very gracious host.
