Dear Cardinal Sean,
Another wonderful blog! I watched the homily you did that aired on TV and it was truly touching. Those priests you spoke to and anyone who viewed you homily on Catholic TV must be so touched and awed as I was.

Thanks again for a great blog and make sure to visit St. Paul School in Hingham MA next time you are near the South Shore.

Dear Cardinal Sean,

I hope you had a wonderful Easter! The Church I went to on Easter Sunday was beautiful.

I think that St. Elizabeth's Medical Center is fantastic. I am impressed with all the new machines.

I read the anonymous Spanish poem and I thought it was very holy and well done.

I am looking forward to your visit to St. Paul's!

Cardinal Seán,

Having celebrated Holy Week in the West of Ireland (Diocese of Achonry) I was pleased to share some of what went on in Boston around those special days. I was so pleased to be able to hear your words at the Chrism Mass. Inspiring. Proud too to hear you speak of Patrick and the role of the Irish. I'm not sure we're at the 10% of population stage but we're still trying!!!

God Bless,

Dear Cardinal Sean,
First and foremost, I wish you and all of your readers a happy and sacred Easter.

I wanted to take a few moments to vent so to speak on the Catholic universities bowing down to secular demands. There seems to be a lot in the media these days. (i.e. - controversy over Obama speaking at Notre Dame, and a professor at B.C. wanting the Crucifix removed from the classrooms)

It surely must be a honor for University of Nortre Dame and Georgetown to be chosen by the President to speak at.

When Georgetown was chosen for a major speech, and was asked to cover up the Crucifix (and actually did), a symbol yes, but a symbol of who we are as a Catholic people, that is too much. I lost a vast amount of respect for Georgetown.

I implore you to use your position and office to express concern to the institutions of higher learning that call themselves Catholic bowing to secularism. Why are these universities moving away from the Church. Is it more important to have the President come and speak at graduation or use the campus as a backdrop for a policy speech, or for these institutions to educate in the Catholic faith?

Thank you for the chance to vent.

For those unfamiliar - here is a link to the story on Georgetown.

Dear Cardinal Sean,

Another wonderful blog, Cardinal. One part of this blog that I enjoyed reading about was St. Elizabeth's Medical Center. It seemed like a very nice hospital for people who need special care to go to. I also enjoyed reading the prayer at the bottom of this page, also shown in Latin. It’s a very beautiful prayer. Thank you for your blog this week, Cardinal!

Love the blog - for a Cardinal to be this open and to use this technology to communicate to his people is fantastic.

I was surprised at the priest-centric message of the Chrism post and homily - were there no Deacons there? Were they permitted to renew their vows too or was that limited to priests only in your Archdiocese?

Often we use the word 'priest' when we mean 'clergy', was that the case here?

Congratulations on a wonderful website and blog.

Cardinal Sean,
It is great to see the advancement of services at St. Elizabeths Hospital, a part of Caritas Christi. When will we hear the result of the assessment done by the National Catholic Bioethics Center on whether referring patients to abortion providers violates Church teachings? Seems that you posted this would be forthcoming quite some time ago. Surely they have offered some feedback by now. Could you perhaps share the result in next week's blog post?

Dear Cardinal Sean,
This week's blog was very good! I was interested in your meeting with the new leadership of the Sisters of the Holy Union. I remember hearing about the Daughters of St. Paul at my parish. A new priest who helps at my school's parish was in one of your pictures. I thought it was very touching what you told the priests-that now, more than ever, we have to be missionaries- even in our own back yard. I hope you visit soon!

Your blog was especially interesting this week! I loved the beautiful picture of the crucifiction. It takes a very talented artist to paint something as gorgeous as that. I also thought that the spanish prayer was very well-written. I hope you had an enjoyable Easter!!!

This blog was very interesting. I enjoyed learning about the Eucharistic Congress. I believe that it was a wonderful way to celebrate God. I would have loved to be a part of the Eucharisic procession through the streets of the North End. I can't wait until your next post. God Bless.

Dear Cardinal Sean,

I noticed that one of the priests that you met at St. John's in Quincy is a priest at our church! What a small world. the new emergency room looks extremly equiped with new techonolgy. The monstrance at St. Stephen's looks so pretty! I think that it's cool how each Church has it's own monstrance. That little girl who changed her mind about her donation sounds so cute! I enjoyed reading your blog this week!

As you said in your homily, it is important that we become and are missionaries. We need to share God's word with others. As Catholics, we must not only preach the Lord's word, we must live it as well. I think that you're blog is a great way of proclaiming God's overall message to others.

Cardinal Sean,
Thank you for yet another beautiful blog. I was happy to see that when you went to St. John's in Quincy,
you met with a priest who currently says Mass at my school, Father Chris. Also, I was pleased to see that so many cultures are involved in the Catholic Church, I know God would want everyone to worship together as children of God. You are welcome to come visit my school at any time.

Dear Cardinal Sean,

Your blog this week was very interesting. I think it is great how St. Elizabeth's Medical Center is very modern and has state of the art technology. I think that when people go to hospitals they deserve to get the best possible treatment and sometimes they don't get that. I think if all the hospitals put in new machines people would have a better chance at living. I also liked the picture of The Last Supper. I think seeing pictures of Jesus and His followers help us to realize what He went through for all of us and I think it reminds people to try to sin less and be a better person.

Happy Easter!

Cardinal Sean,

It looks as if you have had a very busy week!

That is wonderful that the priests had so many great ideas for The Year of the Priest. I'm sure we'll hear much more about it in the future.

The new hospital looks great - it is so important to have updated medical technology so that doctors can do the absolute best of their ability to cure and heal others.

That was such a beautiful and meaningful poem! I don't fully understand it, but the impression that I get is that the man loves Jesus because of His great sacrifice, not because of a longing for heaven or a hatred of the devil. Whatever it may truly mean, it was very moving.

Thanks for another great blog! I hope you can come to visit our school soon!

Dear Cardinal Sean,

It is very inspiring to read about the many churches you visited during Holy Week. At my school, we reenacted the Stations of the Cross. I think the renovations of St. John's Church are also very beautiful because the carving of the Last Supper on the altar reminds us about how we are celebrating Jesus and remembering the dinner he had the day before he died.

I was also very happy to read that you blessed the St. Elizabeth's Emergency Room because the new renovations that you wrote about, such as the CT Scan and new machines are very important for the saving of people who are very ill.

Happy Easter!

Sincerely,

Celene, a 7th Grade Student at St. Paul School, Hingham

P.S. We are patiently awaiting your visit to our school.

I stayed to listen up to your homily for the Chrism Mass on video after the Passion liturgy at my home Church of St. James Cathedral in Seattle, WA on this Good Friday. The Valesquez painting and the Spanish poem were such a wonderful way to end this evening before bed. I thought about my tears tonight--and realized they were and are a mixture of sorrow--for the decision of humankind to alienate themselves from the LOVE of their life... and profound joy--for the manifestation of God's ultimate gift to us. No ascetical practice can be right unless it is done with the resulting joy (here there is no reference to pathology). As Jesus said, "when you fast, groom your hair... etc." or similar words... for God wants us to not only look good, but be in a joyful place when we worship Him! (This is NOT to say we can't take ALL of our troubles to Him! Here I'm speaking in terms of goals.)
