Your Eminence -- I just finished reading your latest blog, and want to say that, in watching the opening Mass of last week's Eucharistic Congress in Washington, I had exactly the same sense as you. What a joy it was, and a sure sign of hope.
I am a member of the class of 1982 of Blessed John XXIII Seminary. I am a priest of the Archdiocese of Toronto, and suffered a massive stroke two years ago. I remain a patient in hospital and have made a great deal of progress, especially in the past year. Anyway, I started reading your blog about two - three months ago, and really enjoy your posts. It's my Saturday morning "read". I enjoy hearing about Boston, the Archdiocese, and -- from time to time -- little bits about "PJXXIII", and my classmates. I understood how difficult it was to give up many of the old things, and the move to Braintree. I am happy to see that all seems to have turned out well: the witness of the "Priest Appreciation Dinner", as well as the comments regarding you installation Mass.
I give thanks to God every day for the inestimable gift of the priesthood (I count myself priviledged to have been ordained to the diaconate by Cardinal Medeiros). The substance of my daily prayer is offering and asking that His will be done in me, and that I may be given the grace each day to respond with love, courage, and generosity.
Be assured of my prayers for your Eminence, and please pray for me. In fraternal union of prayer, Father Richard Love.

Dear Cardinal Sean - it is wonderful that you participate in these activities, and thank you for sharing your experiences, giving us all a window into the life of the Church in the Archdiocese and beyond. Thanks in particular for making the effort to participate in the Eucharistic Congress in Washington DC, and supporting the Women Religious there. Also, thanks for supporting the laymen of Communion and Liberation. Your presence at these events is encouraging to me and makes me proud to be a Boston area Catholic.
-- Bob (a grateful parishioner at St Anne, Littleton)
P.S. Thanks also to the Pilot for the excellent article on the Eucharistic Congress. Another great issue this week!
