This week made me remember all the controversy surrounding the canonization of St. Juan Diego--whether he was a mythical or historical figure. It is interesting that 2002, the year he was canonized, was also the year when the sex abuse scandal broke in Boston, and men who like Juan Diego who had tried to skirt around the other side of the mountain were brave enough to go the bishop and ask for justice. May Juan Diego and Our Lady of Guadalupe bless them with peace. Thank you Cardinal Sean for all you have done to lead Boston out of that terrible time.

Dear Cardinal Sean, We missed you in New York for Archbishop Sheen's Mass! It was a beautiful tribute to a wonderful man. At the Pastoral Center in Braintree, the Mass on Wednesday was offered for Sheen. The Archdiocesan Propagation of the Faith office gave all who attended a prayer card with the Archbishop's picture and a prayer for the cause of of his canonization as well as a World Mission Rosary (started by Sheen in 1951) and an explanatory booklet so that people could pray for the missions, which as you know was one of Sheen's great loves. I'm sure we have another for you if you'd like one! Best wishes for a full health recovery, Maureen Heil
