Dear Cardinal Sean:
As a 1980 graduate of Blessed John XXIII and a friend of Bishop-Elect Peter Ugiletto, I am very happy that he has been appointed one of your new Auxiliary Bishops for the North Region. Yes, will be missed at the seminary but he will be a great asset to the North Region of the Archdiocese. He is a warm hearted Italian-American who has never met a stranger. God bless him and you in your ministries to God's People in Boston!

Fraternally,
Fr. Jim O'Neal

As with all the other "come back to the Church" programs this one will spend the money donated from the hard work of those who put their money in the collection baskets, while being only another "for the press" action. If the Church really wants people to come back they need to start holding those who abuse in any way (sexual abuse, abuse of trust, betrayal of confidences, etc.) responsible for their actions. They need to listen to those who ask to be heard. They need to treat people with the respect they deserve as children of God. All that is needed for people to return to the Church is to show them that it is once again a place to feel the love of God. It's not the faith they are walking away from - it's the Church that has let them down. There is no need to spend all kinds of money on advertisements, just treat people with respect and the news will get around quickly. Start making sure that priests live the words they preach - this will make a difference. Again, listen to those who ask to be heard.

Catholics Come Home looks like an excellent evangelization tool. I particularly connected with the last video--watching movies of our lives. The actors' faces mirrored my emotions. Riveting.
I also like the idea of writing names of relatives and friends in a book and praying for them. This would be a good idea for the last session of the Arise Together with Christ program.
Praying for the success of this program is on my list. Thank you.
